When I was 11, my family immigrated to America from Britain. After living in a small country village surrounded by farms, adjusting to city life took a while and certainly provided lots of new learning opportunities. You might not think so, but there are a lot of vocabulary differences between Britain and America which caused some hilarity with my new friends.
As a self-taught artist, I’m certainly a beginner when it comes to marketing, learning as I go like a lot of people and letting experience be the best guide. My Scottish grandfather, Walter Wingate, was a great naturalist and poet and I like to think I inherited his love for nature. I enjoy anything creative, it's always interesting to discover and appreciate other people’s creative efforts whether it’s art, photography, poetry, writing, or something else. I did attend college (studying something that would get me a job, at my mother's insistence!) Learning is a continual process as you move through life and it offers many opportunities to enrich your knowledge and appreciation for the creative process whether by formal education or the simple observance of nature.
Since I'm now retired and have some extra time, I read, study, attend local art classes, participate in art workshops, and generally enjoy not having to work or go out for anything in a blizzard! I love sports of all kinds, especially hockey, and am a passionate fan of the Detroit Red Wings. The doorbell or phone go unanswered if I'm watching a game!
My husband and I live in Michigan with our two beloved dogs and enjoy the long anticipated free time to pursue interests and hobbies.
